All normal body cells meet their energy needs by respiration of oxygen, whereas cancer cells meet their energy needs in great part by fermentation. When oxygen fails and fermentation is substituted for a cell's energy, the pathway to cancer is opened. Dr. Otto discovered the main cause of cancer is the replacement of this normal oxygen respiration of body cells by an anaerobic (without oxygen) cell respiration.
